Proportion, Balance, Dialogue

Symmetrical wall of SYMATTI tall units demonstrating proportion and balance

Clients often ask why a SYMATTI composition feels resolved before they can say why. The answer is three quiet principles we apply to every project, from a single vanity to an entire residence.

Proportion

We compose in ratios, not in styles. Heights relate to widths as musical intervals relate to one another — thirds, fifths, the golden section where it earns its place. A door is never simply as wide as the carcass allows; it is as wide as the room asks it to be. This is why our systems feel calm even in small apartments: proportion is free, and it costs nothing but discipline.

Balance

Balance is not symmetry. A heavy stone island can be counterweighted by a long, light line of shelving; a dark volume can be held by a field of pale wall. We balance mass the way a sculptor does — by tension between weights, not by mirroring. The eye reads this instantly as rest.

Dialogue

No SYMATTI element speaks alone. Wood answers stone; matte answers gloss; the kitchen answers the wardrobe in the next room. Because every system shares one grid and one palette of materials, rooms converse rather than compete. Proportion gives a composition its grammar, balance its posture — dialogue is what makes it a conversation you want to live inside.
